Peoplemarking: People-Centric Bookmarking

Personos combines ideas from social bookmarking and social networks-- you could say its where del.icio.us meets facebook. It allows you to associate resources you find on the web with their authors and subjects, and build a person-as-subject catalog for your bookmarks.

With tradtional bookmarking tools like del.icio.us, you can only tag a resource with a person's name, e.g., 'david_wolber'. But 'david_wolber' is just text, and others might tag David Wolber as 'wolber' or 'wolberd'. There is no standard protocol and it doesn't work.

People-centric bookmarking lets you tag your bookmarks with people profiles. When you bookmark something, the system scans the resource for names in its database, and suggests these as tags. You can also explicitly choose a name. Either way you are associating the resource with a profile, not text. Instead of creating a tagged set of bookmarks, you create a highly-connected network of web resources, people, and groups!
